The
Hay-Adams
Difference
The hotel is truly the closest you can get to the White House
next to an invitation from the President. Sitting on Lafayette
Square, it is across from historic St. John’s Church where every
U.S. president has worshipped since James Madison. Selected by
Forbes.Com as one of the "World's Best Hotel Bars", Off the Record
is Washington's place to be seen and not heard. Favored by locals
for its creative menu and exceptional wine selection, it’s a place
where you are likely to spot some of Washington’s powerful people.
There, or in the hotel’s sunny restaurant, The Lafayette Room. The
Hay-Adams House opened in 1928 and quickly attracted prominent
Washingtonians and elite travelers, including Charles Lindbergh,
Amelia Earhart, Sinclair Lewis and Ethel Barrymore. An $18 million
four-month restoration in 2002 added luxurious guestroom comforts
and high speed Internet access and component audio systems. A
member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the hotel
is known to treat all of its guests as if they were heads of
state.
